Changing your relationship with food changes your life

meet Minh-Hai Alex, MS, RDN, RYT, seattle dietitian
You deserve to thrive. It would be an honor to support you.

You already know another diet or rigid meal plan is not the answer

And talking to ChatGPT only takes you so far.
Maybe you’re feeling so done with:
  • Food and body worries taking up so much headspace
  • Cycling between feeling in-control with food ("good") and completely out of control ("bad")
  • Food being the #1 go-to for comfort and stress. The worst part is how you feel about yourself afterwards
  • Not knowing how to sustainably prioritize your health (physical + mental) without diet culture in the driver’s seat.
Most of my clients are goal-oriented and kick butt in other areas of life (at least pre-covid) so it feels unsettling to have food be such an energy suck.

By working together, I hope you’ll gain insight, compassion and tools to feel more resourced and confident about how you feed and care for yourself – well after our time together ends.

You want less food and body worries + more energy and mental space for what truly matters.

Most of all, you want to be able to trust yourself and your body and move through your days with more ease.

I want to help you get there.

A bit about me

Simple black line drawing of a leafy plant stem with several leaves branching out, inspired by Seattle Dietitian Minh-Hai, on a plain white background.
I grew up in the restaurant industry (in my Vietnamese Catholic mom's NY-Style Jewish delis in Dallas, TX…long story) and knew I wanted to become a registered dietitian since the 8th grade.

Back then, my thinking was simply, "You mean there's a job where I can talk about food and help people without the crazy restaurant hours? I'm in!"

I'm now grateful to be doing work that is so rewarding, supporting people to have a better relationship with their food, body and mind.

My approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, weight-inclusive (Health At Every Size based) and grounded in cultural humility.
I recognize the harmful impacts of weight stigma and other forms of oppression that impact how our society views bodies, health and worthiness.

Both my nutrition therapy and body-based practices are influenced by a wide range of teachings and modalities that allow my approach to be both eclectic and more effective than simply working with one lens or modality.

What I believe

The values that anchor my approach to food, body, and healing.
authenticity
body respect
compassion
connection
cultural humility
self-trust

Authenticity

According to the hospice worker Bronnie Ware, the #1 regret when people look back on their lives is, “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” In our work, we’ll explore what it means to you personally to thrive and how healing your relationship with food + body can support that. I also hope to provide a space in our sessions where you can come just as you are.

Body Respect

I believe all bodies deserve respect and care. I recognize the harmful impacts of weight stigma, anti-fatness, racism, ableism and other forms of oppression that influence how our society views bodies, health and worthiness.  Weight does not determine health or wellbeing, and it certainly doesn’t determine worthiness.

Compassion

I believe self-compassion is a skill that we can cultivate over time to better support our health, growth and wellbeing.. Love and encouragement are more powerful--and more sustainable—motivators for change than fear and criticism.

Connection

My approach is deeply relational. I aim to provide a nonjudgmental space and be a thoughtful sounding board for you. I hope our work together leaves you feeling more connected to yourself, body and mind. I also hope your relationship with food supports your ability to connect with others, rather than acting as a barrier to connection. I believe a good life is a connected life.

Cultural Humility

I acknowledge I have blind spots and aim to come to sessions not as an “expert” but a fellow human who is always learning and growing. I don’t put American cuisine or even the Mediterranean diet on a pedestal. Every culture has its own food wisdom. I believe food is so much more than fuel – it can also connect us to a sense of home, belonging and deep nourishment.

Self-Trust

The process of healing your relationship to food and body also strengthens self-trust. I believe moving through your days with more self-trust is the greatest gift of doing this work.
