Does the way you eat reveal all?

A close-up of a dandelion with seeds being blown away, set against a blurred green background, evokes the subtle grace of body language in nature. In her popular book Women Food and God, Geneen Roth writes, “…our relationship to food is an exact microcosm of our relationship to life itself.  I believe we are walking, talking expressions of our deepest convictions; everything we believe about love, fear, transformation…is revealed in how, when and what we eat.”

Do you think it’s true that how we eat reflects how we live?  Consider using one of the juicy questions below as a journal prompt and see what you learn.

  • If you struggle with restricting food, what else do you restrict in your life?
  • If you struggle with bingeing, what else do you binge on in life?
  • If you struggle with bingeing and purging, what else do you binge and purge on?

Oh, and btw, I highly recommend Geneen’s book.

Hi, I'm Minh-Hai

I'm a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist located in Seattle, WA.

I love working with people on their relationship with food and body image because it’s truly life-changing work.

The writer Annie Dillard famously wrote, “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” I’ve supported countless people, just like you, who start out feeling dissatisfied with how much of their days are spent preoccupied with food worries, guilt and unease.

It’s possible to have more confidence and ease with food, which gives you more time and energy for what truly matters to you.
